With their haunting song and elusive nature, wolves have long evoked both fear and admiration in humans, their only predator. They are bold and intelligent but also playful, profoundly social, and fiercely dedicated to their family, the pack. In Wolves 2011, world-renowned nature photographers celebrate the beauty of these magnificent creatures, offering us a rare glimpse of wolves in their natural setting. Together, these photographs make a fascinating portrait of the awe-inspiring and often misunderstood wolf.

By Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Wolves 2011 (Calendar) (Calendar) A calendar is a calendar is a calendar. Right? Not really. Yes, a wall calendar generally has pictures and is a useful tool, but, frankly, sometimes there is just nothing to get excited about. For example, the calendar that I get every year at work. Boring.
Now this calendar is more a piece of art, or rather a peek into a moment in the lives of wolves. And they are just peeks. The photographs are all excellent. I confess that January's is a bit hard to look at. It's a very, very, very cold picture--an Arctic Wolf, damp and on an ice flow. I suspect that it would be easier to look at when it is 110 degrees out, but that's just me. There are wolfie babies in this calendar and that is one of the reasons that I especially like this calendar. |
