Vogue Knitting Stitch-a-Day: 2012 Day-to-Day Calendar

Every day I look forward to seeing what's going to be on my needles that day. I never thought of making swatches as fun but now the purpose is learning new stitches (not checking needle size before the "real" project begins). I was concerned I might not follow through on doing these every day but I've got 13 done so far (and it's only the 11th of January) and am getting a good comparison of which stitches to what. How much different ribbing decreases the width. How many ways there are to make eyelets. Directionality of the stitch. And since I'm only doing a little swatch (say 3"x4"), they get done quickly. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to up their knitting skills...at almost any level. What am I going to do with 300+ swatches? NOT an afghan!!! It's not really an issue. I may make something artistic...or file them nice and organized so I can refer back when I want to fancy up a garment...or I may hang them for Christmas decorations. The learning...Read more

This calendar has a lot of great stitches, and I like having a new stitch to look at every day! However, as noted by another reviewer, there is an error on 8/13, Crossing Spikes. I tried charting it to see if I could figure out where the problem is, but didn't have any luck. I emailed Vogue Knitting to see if they can provide any information on this stitch. I haven't found any other errors so far.

When i flipped through the days, i came accross August 13 "Crossing Spikes". So i decided to use this stitch pattern.
I came to find out that there are problems with this pattern in row 7, row 15, and row 23. The total stitches within the pattern block do not add up to the required multiple of 10. If Ii could get help or clarification on the direction, i would very much appreciate the help. Disppointed on the first pattern i tried. Thanks.
