Vogue Knitting Stitch-a-Day: 2010 Calendar

I love knitting stitch collections -- I particularly like compact ones so that I can keep them in my knitting bags for reference and inspiration. One of my favorites is 365 Knitting Stitches a Year Perpetual Calendar and I was hoping that this would be another great addition to that collection.

However, I was very disappointed. On the plus side, there are a lot of good and relatively unusual stitches -- you won't find these stitches in every collection.

It is like the pages were edited and put together by different people and there were no standards from one pattern to the next. Some stitches have only written instructions. However, others have both written instructions and charts and the presence or absence of charts doesn't seem to be related to the complexity of the pattern. It also seems rather random...Read more

This is a great little calendar with a new knitting stitch for every day of the year. Because it is published by Vogue, I have faith that the stitch patterns are accurate and that there will be few errors in the calendars. ( Prior calendars published by other publishing houses are noted for the large number of errors.) The calendar is a perfect size for desk or table.

This calendar has all types of stitches - garter, stockinette, ridge, cable, lace, etc. There is something for everyone and for every mood. I plan to incorporate these stitches into different projects that I have going now or that I plan for the future. Thank you Vogue!!

I was so pleased with this calendar that I bought one for a friend. For knitters who are interested in expanding their skills, this is a thorough, portable addition to their library. If you love cables or lace, you will not be disappointed. There are other novelty stitches as well. Most of the stitches I have not seen before, and I am a pretty hard-core knitter! I definitely put this as a must-buy; get it while it lasts!
