Tottering by Gently is one of my favorite cartoon series, familiar because I am (1) an anglophile and (2) I subscribe to some British magazines. The humor is subtle, very like the original For Better or Worse. The characters are of a certain age, minor nobility, and the lord and lady of Tottering manor near Gently. They drink a little too much, prefer their dogs Slobber and Scribble to their grandchildren....though they are basically raising the latter, due to their daughter's divorce. They pursue country pursuits with due diligence, including supporting their local parish church. Daffy's comments on being a woman of a certain age are always accurate for those of us who are that certain age. Like gravity sneaking up on you. Or the joy of letting your stomach muscles out after getting home and kicking off your shoes. And what good bottle of wine goes with a romantic movie and a box of chocies. A bit wiser in the ways of the world than her somewhat older husband she can explain...Read more
