Product Review

Tall Ships is the first full-color, English-language guide to the international fleet of sailing ships. With photographs and descriptions of 150 vessels, Tall Ships pictures virtually all the major class "A" ships and many American as well as European class "C" and "D" vessels. Organized alphabetically for easy reference, Tall Ships offers a major photograph of each vessel, supplemented by many photographs of details ranging from figureheads and binnacles to flags and rigging. The text of Tall Ships describes each ship featured, its history and notable events under sail, along with its technical specifications. This unique guide is an ideal book for everyone interested in tall ships, their enduring history and traditions.

This book offers a unique and close to encyclopeadic collection of pictures and details of the currently sailing tall ships around the world. Having sailed on a few and seen many more whilst sailing in both Europe and the UK I found pretty well all of them in here.Thad is a reknowned photographer of the tall ships and has been for many years. This collection brings all of that together in one place with the usual quality and understanding of his subject matter that you would expect.I was particularly fortunate to meet the author and get a signed copy during The Tall Ships Race 2000...and no it is not for sale!:-)

This book is a decent book, but it only gives a brief look at each sailing ship. There are photos of each ship, then probably between 1 and 2 paragraphs discussing each ship. I had hoped there would be a bit more meat and potatoes to this book, but from the appearance, it's all garnish...
