Product Description
The Adoration of the Magi, a richly decorated circular panel, is one of the finest paintings in the collections of the National Gallery of Art. It presents a splendid vision of the arrival of the Magi, accompanied by a courtly entourage. A 1492 inventory of Lorenzo de Medici's estate possibly identifies this picture as the most valuable in the collection of the powerful Florentine family, and attributes it to Fra Angelico. The Adoration of the Magi appears to be the work of two artists; Fra Angelico may only have started the altarpiece, the greatest part of the work having been taken up by Fra Filippo Lippi. Through the centuries symbols have enriched the minds of people, adding layers of meaning to ordinary every things. The early Christians saw God in everything, and translated belief into symbols with religious meaning. The Adoration of the Magi is particularly rich in these symbols as this Advent calendar seeks to show. The The 11 1/4 x 12 1/2 inches calendar has an easel back. It comes in a resealable poly bag.
