This calendar is absolutely beautiful. The history and information on the spices is rich and bizarre, and the cuisine, spice and wine pairings are wonderful! I recommend it highly.

If there's a foodie on your holiday shopping list (which may include you), this Spice calendar is just the ticket. Each month gets a full page close-up photo of a different spice -- cardamom, vanilla, lemongrass -- and the pictures are incredibly pretty and graphically fun. Each photo also has a few paragraphs about the spice's history (vanilla is second-most expensive next to saffron, for example) but really, it's the photos that make this worthwhile.

As a Chef, this calendar is quite a read. It is sooooo interesting. The pictures are nice, big and colorful. I already have plans for ordering the 2013 calendar.
