When I started I was not a real origami fan but I loved the idea of recycling--i.e. you don't just throw away yesterday's page, you actually make something nice out of it. The more I did, the better I got and the more I began to love origami.
Margaret Van Sicklen invented this calendar and still creates the best one. Why buy a copy-cat? SUPPORT THE ORIGINATOR! Some of the best minds in the origami world contribute to this calendar and that should tell you something. But don't think the models are too complex. The designs are straight-forward, clear and easy to follow. I gave this calendar to my 10 year old neice and she loves it (and has made a damn good jumping frog!). The calendar also includes some interesting information on the history of origami, different branches of the craft and some fun/silly tidbits of info. All in all, a GREAT buy! Highly recommended. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: Origami Page-A-Day Calendar 2007 (Calendar) In the 2004 edition someone mentioned that the pages weren't square, which makes it hard to fold precisely. I'm happy to say that the 2007 edition has square pages. The Origami Key that comes with the calendar is a great resource, and the symbols are easy to understand. Directions are very clear as well. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: Origami Page-A-Day Calendar 2007 (Calendar) My daughter loves this calendar. Some are too difficult but she can do most of the origami. 10 and up. |
