I love the Moleskine notebooks. Every year I buy a new ruled notebook to journal, tape keepsakes, draw, list up, and record in. This year I'm going red!
These are tough notebooks. The cover is particularly nice if you live in a humid place, as it's a oilskin material that doesn't mold. A had a look-alike notebook from another company and the cover molded in 6 months. Moleskine stay nice for years.
I love the back inside pocket for holding onto tickets, coupons, business cards - you name it.
My favorite part is the elastic strap that keeps your journal closed. I love taking it off and closing it back up with a "snap". This is another feature that the imitators can't get right. Their strap gets stretched and looses elasticity. Moleskine's stay nice and tight.
Go for the best, go Moleskine.

Simply stated, this is a quality product that is hard to find locally (B&N stores carry them). I replaced all my complex time management paper based planners with a Moleskine and the Iphone (premised upon the GTD organizational philosophy). What a difference.
I have used Daytimer, Franklin Covey, and Rolodex in the past. I have also been formally trained in the Franklin Covey time management systems. In the end (after 10 years of "fighting" to make them work), I am finally @ peace.
By the way, our 8 year old uses a Moleskine as a journal. She writes stories, play's, songs, and even does mind dumping into it. We simply label each Moleskine with the year and keep them bound on an office shelf.
From a technical standpoint, the paper is top of the line as is the cover. I use Levenger pens with mine and found writing to be a pleasure in an era of countless keyboard clicks.

I'm currently in the process of using notebooks by Rhodia, Clairefontaine, Red n' Black, Stifflexible, and even good ol' Mead, and I have to say that Moleskine (pronounced "mol-a-skeena") is still one of the best.
I like the stiff durability of the notebook. My notebook gets toss around like mad, and over the years has sustained only one small split on the spine. Considering all it's been through, that's pretty darn good sustainability for the notebook.
I chose this red one for Scripture studies, and it's no different than the standard, black stiff-covered Moleskine. Good, portable size despite it being the large version, and the rich, poppy-red hue gives the owner the sense that there's just no way to lose it.
