Product Review

Introducing a marriage made in word-lover’s heaven: a super-
handy notepad to keep you organized, plus a daily crossword for an entertaining challenge. Every tear-off page of the Mensa Crossword Pad helps keep track of appointments and reminders with a check-off to-do list, plus provides blank space for thoughts, jots, and doodles. At the top of each page is a puzzle designed by Fred Piscop (veteran crossword writer for The New York Times and The Washington Post). Each puzzle is designed to be solved in just a few minutes, but is challenging enough to be sanctioned by Mensa, the internationally famous high-IQ society. It’s a daily planner and puzzle break, all in one.

I had purchased a puzzle book by Piscop previously and really liked the puzzles. They are easy but fun. Each one takes about 10 minutes. These puzzles are also fine, but the print is so small and the boxes so tiny, it is really annoying. They could have done a better job. Nobody really needs that much room for their daily plans!

I purchased this calendar for at my office and I love it. The crosswords are definitely difficult (as I expected, being a Mensa crosswork calendar), but so far I have been able to solve all of them (getting some help from the internet when I get stuck). The puzzles do build on each other, so as you learn the answers you might not have previously known, you will be using them again in future puzzles. I don't use it as my mouspad, but I suppose it would work fine. I also don't use the to-do lists, but they would be very handy if I was just more organized!
