This review is from: Ecclesiastes, Songs of Songs (Holman Old Testament Commentary, Vol. 14) (Hardcover)
This Ecclesiates commentary is one of the best I have seen. It contains remarkable insight into life as revealed by this great biblical text. Moore's observations about "diversion" are worth the price of the book alone -- very profound! The book is designed for someone who is teaching, preaching, or in a small group Bible study -- very practical.

This is a great series of the books of the Bible. As a teacher of women Bible studies, I use these book daily. Would recommend them to all who need the extra help in understanding scripture.

GREAT BOOK IN THE SERIES,

This review is from: Holman Old Testament Commentary - Joshua (Hardcover)
This is pretty much the same review I did for KINGS in this series. Both books are
equally good.
This is a very good study of Joshua. The volumes in this series are briefer than
many, but in this one there is plenty of information without the work being too
detailed. Also the author of this book isn't unwilling to deal with disputed
issues such as the "long day" in chap 10. He gives several views and then gives his
own. I especially like the section called DEEPER DISCOVERIES where additional info
can be had.
Some works in the Holman series are way TOO brief for the books they cover such as
Genesis/Psalms etc, but this volume is very good for anyone wanting a good basic
study of this fascinating book.
