Cooks, gardeners and anyone who cherishes the magic of herbs will enjoy entering this world of flavor, fragrance and color. Herbs have been used for centuries on every continent in cooking, medicines, perfumes and crafts. More than just a calendar, this is a resource to be kept.
Herbs can be used in foods from appetizers to desserts, as shown in the easy but sumptuous recipes from author Maggie Oster. The Herb Gardens 2011 Wall Calendar also includes a wealth of herbal folklore; remedies and growing tips are offered every other day. Photographs of green herb gardens on each page.
Every month highlights a different herb with history, recipes, and folklore.
I learned much from this caledar, but use it as a day/date reminder and purchase a
seperate appointment calendar. Writing space is small or none for each day.

The photos are very nice. One problem with pictorial calendars is that sometimes it's easy to tire of the pictures before the month is out. That shouldn't be a problem with this calendar. The January recipe, risotto with mushrooms and herbs, was quite tasty. Scattered around the calendar dates are various tidbits of folklore and miscellanea. I didn't know, for instance, that the Chinese used garlic to ward off the evil eye. After enjoying this calendar for the rest of this year, I'll likely get another one of these for 2009.

I missed where it said in the description that every other day offers "remedies and growing tips." What this actually means is you can't write anything in every other square in the entire calendar, because every other square is already full of text.

Well, the pictures are nice. But for me, wall calendars are about seeing a pretty picture AND having space to write things in on various dates of the month (like, say, *calendar entries*).

Well, since it's mid-January, this'll come too late to help anyone else. Bummer.
