Product Review

Watercolor artist Sally J. Smith (American, b. 1954) creates environmental sculptures in the woodlands near her home in the Adirondacks. Working throughout the year in weather mild or wild, Smith fashions faerie houses almost entirely from local, natural materials. Often fastened with thorns or porcupine quills, the diminutive dwellings, after being constructed and photographed, are frequently left in the forests to await discovery (and, perhaps, inhabitation) by other beings.

Size: 12 x 13 in.; opens to 12 x 26 in. Printed on FSC certified paper with soy-based ink.

I love this calendar because the pictures get my imagination going. I find myself wanting to build those fairy houses . . . .

Every one of the pictures in this calendar is a delight. Usually, a calendar has at least one not-so-great pic, so I'm quite pleased with this purchase.

I had Sally's 2011 Calendar and loved it, I really looked forward to the 2012 one. I got it today, and while I think it is beautiful, the photos seem to be over-saturated. The colours are so bright they are unrealistic and almost neon - whoever printed this really bumped up the saturation. Leaves look toxic green, red berries are glowing like christmas tree lights...

If you know someone who loves fairies, they will love this calendar. I have a fairy house book, but this is the first year I saw a calendar. Very happy with my purchase.
