This review is from: Extraordinary Chickens 2011 Wall Calendar (Calendar) The chickens are lovely, as always (particularly the cover chicken who looks like diva Aretha Franklin in one of her most fantastic hats), but I'm disappointed. We buy this calendar every year because in the past, there was a checkerboard pattern that coordinated with our kitchen. This year and last year too, the chickens and date pages have no checkerboard. Amazon did not provide a "look inside," so we knew we were taking a chance... I wish that either Green-Armytage hadn't changed the design, or that Amazon had given us some warning. Ah, well. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful: Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) IF the calendar was done rght, it would have looked much more imaginative and interesting; instead it was just dull. Whoever put this together, did a really bad job, I am sorry to say. All of the backgrounds are a solid DARK color, so if a chicken has DARK plumage, it looks like nothing you'd want on your wall.. I am done purchasing calendars online that don't show you what the pictures for each month look like. If those pictures are not shown, there is a reason for it, folks. That's my 2 cents. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful: This review is from: Extraordinary Chickens 2011 Wall Calendar (Calendar) The "Extraordinary Chickens 2011" wall calendar is a sight to behold. I cannot imagine what they do to chickens in Poland that make them look this way, but they're absolutely delightful; Polish chicken farmers obviously have wonderful senses of humor. Not to be outdone, though, the calendar thoughtfully closes with a chicken so otherworldly I cannot even begin to describe it, except to say it is a young Showgirl White chicken, and looks like an irritable cross between a dinosaur and Carmen Miranda, although with a more garish hat. I like this photo so much that when I'm done with the calendar I may have it framed and hang it in the guest bedroom. The calendar has a wide variety of chickens, though some of the backgrounds don't...Read more |
