Comment: This book is fun but some work. You bark to 10 different dogs, 10 different ways. We like it!

Comment: My 8 month old daughter is at the very least entertained if not smiling and laughing when we read this book to her. "One dog. WOOF" "Two dogs. WOOF, YAP YAP" - each dog has it's own bark, but they give you a few breaks so you're not barking the whole time - eg. "Six quiet dogs." Usually when I read books to her they can have only a couple words per page or else she gets itchy because I'm lingering on each page for too long, but with this book she'll even sit through the last page where you go through the barking of all ten dogs. I'm sure this is also great for when toddlers are learning how to count.

Comment: If you are looking for a cute little book to quietly read to your child look elsewhere. This book demands imagination and volume! My son loves this book when I read it. I bark and howl to my heart content. but when others read it and do not "do" the noises and just read them he is not amused and quickly finds something else to read. Be prepared! I personally love this book but know a few people who can not "get into" the book! But I agree with other reviews which say this is not a teach your kid numbers book. But it will teach them to say dog!!!

Comment: My kid has read this book multiple times a day for months (he's now 14 months) and loves it.
Granted, it isn't building vocabulary or teaching some moral lesson, or introducing him to a new ethnic food, but man, does he love this book.

Comment: Your baby/toddler/kid will love this book. Love it. S/he will want you to read it over and over again. At first you'll be over-joyed that your child enjoys a book so much. But then you will come to realize that a book composed of nothing but a cumulative string of barks + toddler who adores repetition = parental insanity. My son loved this book, but it started to drive me mad. So I sent it along to the thrift store and thanked the heavens that young toddlers don't have good memories. I suggest that before you purchase "Doggies" you think long and hard about whether you really want to spend your time reading the same sequence of barks to a kid who'll want it over and over and over again.
