Crazy 4 Cult is a cult movie art collection, featuring art from Gallery 1988, a Los Angeles art gallery opened in 2004 that focuses on pop-culture themed artwork.
It's a 176-page hardcover published by Titan Books.
The movies included are limited to just cult movies, depending on how you define cult. Some of them are Clerks, The Big Lebowski, Edward Scissorhands, Donnie Darko, The Shining, Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory etc. Some titles are really obscure.
The art is essentially fan art, a collection a paintings and a few handmade figures. Some ideas are nice, some average. There's a variety of interesting style but overall, there's a strong lowbrow art feel to the book. Can't say that it's the style of art I like.
This book reminds me of Star Wars Art: Visions...Read more

CRAZY4CULT is a collection of movie art from Gallery 1988, a Los Angeles art gallery that focuses on pop-cultured themed art. The prints in this book are printed on a high-caliber, glossy stock. The works portrayed in the book include, among others, STAR WARS, WILLY WONKA AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY, THE BIG LEBOWSKI, ALIENS, PULP FICTION, THE SHINING, FARGO, E.T., TWIN PEAKS, THE BIG LEBOWSKI, DONNIE DARKO, BACK TO THE FUTURE, THE WIZARD OF OZ, GHOSTBUSTERS, and JAWS. Most of the works featured are paintings and sketches, but there are some pieces of sculpture, too. My favorite work in the book is "The Parking Ticket": a painting of an astronaut and R2-D2. Overall, this book has a somewhat limited appeal because its core audience is someone who is an avid fan of pop culture as well as a person who has a strong sense of art appreciation.

Great Art Book,

I purchased this book when I went to the opening night of Crazy4Cult's latest installment at Gallery 1988. I heard that the book was going to be released that night and had told myself that no matter what - I would not pay more than $80 for it - and even then, it had better be great. I'm glad I wasn't disappointed!
When I finally got my hands on one, after waiting in an extremely chaotic line that kept being pushed to and fro by gallery visitors volleying for a better viewing spot of the artwork on the walls, I was jazzed to find out the book was only $35 - WAAAAAAY less than any print sold at Gallery 1988!
The book is printed on high-quality paper and the colors just pop! Each piece is showcased and resized so that every detail can be oo'ed and ah'ed over. I was so happy with the book and finally owning the pieces I could never afford to buy at the gallery, that I proudly showed off the book to everyone that dropped by my apartment that night. Even though most...Read more
