Born in Pennsylvania, William Seltzer Rice (1873-1963) moved to California in 1900, during the flowering of the Arts and Crafts movement. He distinguished himself as a teacher, painter, and printmaker, adopting block printing as his favorite medium. Rice designed, carved, and printed the blocks himself; each color print might require several blocks. Today his watercolors and prints are in many museum collections worldwide. The twelve prints reproduced in this calendar include flowers, birds, and landscapes.
Size: 12 x 13 in.; opens to 12 x 26 in. Printed on FSC certified paper with soy-based ink.
