Product Review
David Muench has photoed the landscape in all its grandeur for 1/2 a century. Traveling the US since early childhood w/his father, renown photoer Josef Muench, there was never another way of life for him. His 4x5 large format camera is as much a part of him as his innovative eye. He has lately been experimenting w/digital cameras as a result of his work photoing World Heritage Sites for UNESCO & Panasonic. Innovator of original & oft-imitated approaches to the landscape, Muench brings his own idea of geography into both his spectacular color & b/w images. Long intimate with America's wild places, in recent years Muench has expanded outward across the globe, photoing in Antarctica, New Zealand, Australia, Iceland, Japan, Morocco, South Africa, the Galapagos, Patagonia, Russia, & Belarus. Muench's work has been exhibited in numerous museums & galleries, including the Santa Barbara Museum of Art & Mountain Light Gallery in Bishop, California. He was commissioned by the National Park Service to provide 33 photo murals presenting the landscapes of the Lewis & Clark expedition. He has published over 50 large format books. Marc Muench has been a pro landscape & sports photoer for 20+ years. He has photoed for publishers such as Graphic Arts Books, Browntrout Publishing, & Time, Inc., & his photography has appeared on covers or inside Time, National Geographic, Traveler, Arizona Highways, Ski, Skiing, Sunset, Outside, Sierra Magazine, & more. Marc was designated in 2003 as a Kodak PhotoIcon, & he represented Canon Camera in several ad campaigns, as well as appearing on "Canon Photo Safari," which aired on ESPN outdoor block for 8 straight seasons. Marc is now the "artist in residence" at dgrin for Smugmug, where he contributes on a regular basis to the "Muench University" critique thread. He is currently the photo editor of the National Parks guide, published by The American Park Network, which contains many of his images taken throughout the USNPS.
